Supporting the United States Coast Guard for 70 Years!

What is the Coast Guard Auxiliary?

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was established by Congress in 1939 to assist the Coast Guard in promoting boating safety. It includes more than 30,000 members from all walks of life who receive special training so that they may be a functional part of Team Coast Guard.   (Photo shows transfer of personnel between an Auxiliary Coast Guard vessel and a Regular Coast Guard vessel off the coast of Maui during a joint training mission.)

Auxiliarists assist the Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as public education, vessel safety checks, safety patrols, search and rescue, maritime security and environmental protection and Coast Guard Academy introduction programs for youth.  (Pictured below is a child enjoying a chance to learn about boating safety from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary at the Maui County Fair )

Auxiliarists volunteer more than 2 million hours annually to benefit other boaters and their families.  (Pictured above is a Maui auxiliarist upon completion of an area familiarization flight around the Hawaiian Islands)
